Media’s role in upcoming elections – LFP strengthens relations with journalists

Dr. Waseem, Prof. of Lahore University of Management Sciences spoke about the role of political parties in election process and appealed to the civil society to monitor the whole process to ensure free and fair elections. Mr. Wahood Qureshi, President Electronic Media Club Pakistan emphasized the important role of media in keeping the citizens well informed about the election process and its impartial analysis. LFP being a member of a civil society pressure and campaign group, comprising more than 30 organizations, has a special interest to monitor election process in the districts.


Mr. Hussain Naqi of Human Rights Commission Pakistan (HRCP) spoke about the necessity that all citizens get and exercise their right to vote by being timely registered which is still a problem in the country. He also urged the civil society to sensitize the masses about the respect of human rights.
The chairman of LFP Mr. Asif Khan enlightened the participants about liberal democracy emphasizing the need to support moderate and liberal forces in elections.


Ms. Rukhsana Bhatti, Central Information Secretary LFP, who designed and conducted the workshop, informed that this was the first workshop held in Lahore of a series which will be continued in Hyderabad, Sindh, soon.
With this new approach LFP intensifies its campaign to spread liberalism amongst stake holders and opinion builders.
