13th Dudley Senanayake Memorial Lecture
The Friedrich Naumann Stiftung für die Freiheit (FNF) and partner, the Dudleyfrom left, Rawan Wijewardena MP, Bradman Weerakoon, Yashwant Sinha, Sagarica Delgoda & Rohan Edrisinha Senanayake Foundation (DSF) organized the 13th Dudley Senanayake Memorial Lecture on the 22nd of July 2010. The Lecture was delivered by Hon. Yashwant Sinha, M.P., former Minister of Finance and former Minister of External Affairs of India.
The usual feature of this notable event is a full house. This year too, it was no different and the event was graced by a very large and distinguished audience. Among them were the former Sri Lankan President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaranatunga, Current Sri Lankan Minister of External Affairs Hon. Prof. G.L. Peiris, Deputy Leader of the UNP, Hon. Karu Jayasuriya and Leader of the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress, Hon. Rauf Hakeem. Several leading politicians from the government and opposition, Ambassadors and High Commissioners, as well as civil
Audience society leaders attended in numbers.
The proceedings of the event commenced with a moving tribute being paid to late Desmond Fernando. President’s Counsel and President of the DSF, who passed away a few days prior to the event, by Rohan Edrisinha, Senior Law Lecture and Director of Centre for Policy Alternatives. Mr. Bradman Weerakoon, Senior Civil Servant and Secretary to eight Prime Ministers chaired the meeting as the Vice President of DSF. Sagarica Delgoda, Country Representative of FNF Sri Lanka delivered the welcome address and introduced the guest speaker.

Former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaranatunga and Hon. Yashwant Sinha at the lecture and Us”. Yashwant Sinha emphasized that “In the political field, globalization means democracy, rule of law, good governance and elimination of corruption, proper treatment of minorities and of the different religious and linguistic groups, both at the national and international levels.”
Ruwan Wijewardena, M.P. delivered the vote of thanks concluding the proceedings.
